Webdoodle I like this

Webdoodle is a 33 year old guy in a relationship from Missoula, Montana, USA.
Normally I can talk about myself all day, but put this little box in front of me and ask me to introduce myself to everyone, and I find I can't think of a thing. I'm a web application developer by trade, and a science enthusiast at heart.
Volcanic eruption signals simulated in lab for first time (10/11/2008)
Oct 11, 9:39am    (1 review)  software, geoscience, volcanoes, eruptions  http://www.geologytimes.com/research/Vol...
From the page: "For the first time, seismic signals that precede a volcanic eruption have been simulated and visualized in 3-D under controlled pressure conditions in a laboratory. The ability to conduct such simulations will better equip municipal authorities in volcanic hot spots around the world in knowing when to alert people who live near volcanoes of an impending eruption."
Preserved by ice: Glacial dams helped prevent erosion of Tibetan plateau...
Oct 9, 9:28am    (1 review)  science, geoscience  http://www.geologytimes.com/Research/Pre...
New research suggests that a Tibetan plateau edge might have been preserved for thousands of years by ice during glacial advances and by glacial debris deposited at the mouth of many Tsangpo tributaries during warmer times when glaciers retreated.

From the page: "Some of the world's rarest and most precious metals, including platinum and iridium, could owe their presence in the Earth's crust to iron and stony-iron meteorites, fragments of a large number of asteroids that underwent significant geological processing in the early Solar System."

Arctic sea ice annual freeze-up underway (10/6/2008)
Oct 6, 10:02am    (1 review)  geoscience, arctic, oceans, sea-ice  http://www.geologytimes.com/research/Arc...
From the page: "After reaching the second-lowest extent ever recorded last month, sea ice in the Arctic has begun to refreeze in the face of autumn temperatures, closing both the Northern Sea Route and the direct route through the Northwest Passage."
Gas From the Past Gives Scientists New Insights into Climate and the Oceans...
Oct 5, 10:08am    (1 review)  geoscience, oceans, climate-change  http://www.geologytimes.com/research/Gas...
Ice core and ocean deposit comparisons show complex links between carbon dioxide levels, ocean currents and climate; may help explain past, present and future climate trends

From the page: "Researchers to develop a method for creating an accurate picture of Greenland's shrinking ice cap."
NASA data show Arctic saw fastest August sea ice retreat on record (10...
Oct 2, 9:46am    (1 review)  geoscience, sea-ice  http://www.geologytimes.com/research/NAS...
From the page: "Following a record-breaking season of arctic sea ice decline in 2007, NASA scientists have kept a close watch on the 2008 melt season. Although the melt season did not break the record for ice loss, NASA data are showing that for a four-week period in August 2008, sea ice melted faster during that period than ever before."
